THE LODGE

Set in the Karoo plain’s valley bushveld and surrounded by breath-taking mountains, the recently-renovated homestead and newly-built cottages offer luxurious high quality accommodation. The gorgeously restored old Karoo homestead has a modern, yet classical feel with outstanding facilities and activities. The wide-open living area is designed to help you relax and enjoy Africa. Our friendly, well-trained staff are on duty to enhance your experience and our fabulous cuisine champions the harvested venison and incorporates locally-sourced organic produce, where possible.

WOW, an unforgettable experience! Rob & Laura went out of their way to make this a memorable trip for each one of us. This was my son’s first time hunting in Africa and he will never forget this. Our family absolutely loved every moment of our time at Royal Karoo! The food was amazing, the pool perfect on those hot African days and nights, the staff so friendly and helpful, the accommodation fantastic, not to mention the GIRAFFE WALK... truly an unforgettable African experience.

We stayed at The Royal Karoo for the first time this weekend for 3 nights and were blown away by this breathtaking oasis in the Karoo. Having been on a few hunting trips with my husband, I can definitely recommend The Royal Karoo to couples who want to experience some luxury combined with hunting, birding or just spending time in the veld. What a great experience! My husband had so much fun hunting! The hunts were well organized and exhilarating! I even tagged along a few days to enjoy the beautiful topography and join in on the excitement. The lodge is beautiful and you truly feel at home during your stay. Words can't describe Royal Karoo with Robert and Laura Birch and their son Andrew. The food was exquisite, from the appetizers to the springbuck ribs cooked slowly on the fire. The rooms and accommodations were immaculate the staff and cooks were attentive to all our needs. The hunting was outstanding with every kind of plains game you could want and the cape buffalo were impressive. I would definitely go back.
